A new chapter for España Discovery
We have to tell you something that, even though we've known for a while that this day would come, still makes us feel a little nostalgic.
Starting with the 2027 issue, ED will no longer be printed on paper.
Yes, we know that for many of you this will be a bit of a disappointment. And we understand that perfectly. For many years, the book has been part of the journey. It’s been in your motorhomes, in the glove compartment, on the dashboard, or on the table while you were deciding where to spend the next night.
It’s not an easy decision for us either.

We will continue to maintain, nurture, and promote the España Discovery ecosystem. We will continue to seek out new locations, add new hosts, review the information, and ensure that when you arrive at one of our stops, you find what you expect to find.
The only thing that changes is how you carry all that information with you.
Why did we make this decision?
There are several reasons.
One of them—and probably the most important—is the consumption of resources involved in printing thousands of copies each year.
Paper is made from cellulose, and its entire life cycle—from manufacturing to distribution—requires water, energy, and raw materials.
It's not as if we're just now discovering that a book is bad for the environment. It isn't. But when we have the opportunity to provide exactly the same information without having to reprint it every year, we believe it makes sense to take that step.
There is also a practical issue.
All the information from España Discovery that you'll find in the book is available in the app. There isn't a "print" edition and a separate "digital" edition. It's the same information.
And having it on your phone is much more convenient. The entire ED fits in the palm of your hand, takes up no space on the motorhome , and allows you to update the information whenever necessary.
We realized we were doing something a little strange: preparing and maintaining the same information in two different formats.
And the time has come to say goodbye to one of them.
We knew this moment would come
Actually, this decision didn’t come as a surprise to us. When we were preparing the 2026 edition, we already knew it would likely be the last print edition of ED, which is why we wanted to do something we considered important: publish the book one last time and, at the same time, encourage the use of the app.
We wanted the 2026 edition to serve as a sort of bridge between the two ways of using España Discovery. This has allowed us to verify that the app works, that the information is there, and that you can use it before taking the final step toward the digital format.
And we think it has worked.
We know that for some of you, it won't be that easy
We also know that not everyone uses their phone the same way and that, for some of you, opening a PWA, using an app that runs directly in the browser, or adding a shortcut to the home screen may seem much more complicated than opening a book and turning to a page.
And we understand that perfectly.
But there's something that might put your minds at ease: we're grown-ups, too.
We're not a tech company, and we don't spend all our time on our phones. We, too, have had to learn how to use all these new tools, and—as is probably the case for many of you—at first, some things seemed a lot more complicated than they actually were.
Over time, we've learned how to use them, and we've found that once you know a few basic things, the app works perfectly and is much easier to use than it might seem at first.
That's why we don't want anyone to think that, from now on, they'll have to figure things out on their own with the technology. If you have any questions, if something isn't working as you expected, or if you simply don't know how to do something, just write to us and we'll help you—just as we've always done.
You can contact us by email or WhatsApp. We'll be here to help resolve any issues and explain whatever you need, as many times as necessary.
We don't hide behind an app, nor do we expect every user to become a tech expert.
And now, let's keep traveling
The app lets us do much more than just carry the guide with us.
From this same page, you can go directly to our videos on Instagram and YouTube, read articles on the España Discovery blog, discover new places, and tell us about your experiences. You can also upload your own photos, participate in our photo contests, write reviews, and—who knows—maybe one day see your photos featured on our website or blog.
And you can do all of this from the same platform, as you continue to explore Spain and share with us what you find along the way.
Because we also want ED to feel a little more like yours. We want you to be able to get involved, show us places worth visiting , and —if you’d like—become ED ambassadors.
The guide has a new format, but the experience can be much more extensive.
And we, on our end, will continue doing what we've been doing all these years: taking care of this project, taking care of our hosts, and seeking out new places so that you can continue discovering Spain in a different way.
To all of you who have been traveling with us for years, thank you. Thank you for believing in this project and for helping it grow alongside us over the years.
And for those of you who are still discovering ED, we invite you to continue being part of this small community of travelers who decided many years ago that exploring Spain could be done in a different way.
